See the latest results of the 2016 season. The Bexhill Rowing club hosted the 3rd regatta of the 2016 Coastal Rowing Season. Following on from Worthing 2 weeks ago, the club were hoping to build on the 8 wins and increase their 26 point lead in the league title. With a moderate South / South West wind, the conditions were best described as Coastal.
The clubs first win was Greg Anderson in the Junior Sculls. Undefeated this year, he takes a 3 win lead in his championship. Following up in the senior sculls, Bexhill took all bar 2 of the top 6 point places with Kieran Cahill 2nd, Mark Mitchell 3rd, Doug Holdaway 5th & Ashley Cahill 6th. Kieran & Mark then teamed up to win the Men’s Senior pairs helping the club to another 3 wins from 3 with Greg Anderson & Phil McCorry 2nd & Doug & Ash 5th.
Doug, Greg, Mark & Kieran then raced the senior four. In one of the closest races of the day, they trailed Herne bay right up until the last 500m then pushed and won by 1 length. As with the pairs, this is their 3rd win from 3. The B crew of Dan Renner, Ashley Cahill, Phil McCorry and Chris Mizen finished 4th.
The Men’s Novice four of Owen Dyson, Kieran Kingsnorth, Harry Rumary and Samuel Mitchell produced a fantastic last 1000m to finish 2nd in their first row as a crew. Tim Rumary, Tom Green, Edgar Lowe & Chris finished 5th. The Ladies Novice of Hannah Heggie, Jany Blatcher, Christine Braun & Katherine Pickup managed a creditable 4th in their race.
The Veteran 40 crew of Chris Mizen, Andy Bickers, Mark & Matt Mitchell found themselves behind for all bar the last 50m where they sprinted to take the closest win of the day by around 2ft and taking another 3rd win on the trot.
The Men’s Junior four of Adam Baker, Lewis Sealy, Tom Green & Tim Rumary also finished 3rd in a tough race.
Abigail Little found herself busy with races in the junior pairs, ladies double & junior four. Pairing up with Charlie Cooper they finished 2nd followed by Bethan Evans & Jess Plail with Maya Cousins & Georgina Pepper 4th. Abi then paired up with Rachel Holdaway to take 2nd in the ladies double. Just before hand, Abi, Georgina, Charlie & Maya took a very hard fought 2nd place in the ladies Junior four and were closely followed in 3rd by Katherine Pickup, Haz Purcell, Jess Plail & Bethan Evans.
The Junior Senior four of Dab Renner, Ben Slater, Nick & Phil McCorry finished 2nd ahead of a strong field which included the B crew of Tony Page, Clive Bingham, Mark Cowling 5th & Andy Strevens, Chris Doswell, Richard Stokes & Richard Baldwin finishing 6th.
Other notable achievements were Vet 50’s Andy Wilson, Clive Bingham, Mark Cowling & Dave Jones 3rd and 4th in the Vet 40’s with Tony Page. Sam Mitchell raced under 16 quad 3rd and Chris Doswell for 3rd in the veteran sculls.
The club took the Senior Aggregate for the day along with the Grand aggregate by 3 points from Shoreham
